Punxsutawney Phil

Daddy is watching ESPN and taking in some highlights of a hockey game that he watched live last night, and then watched it again because he recorded it on our DVR. Many people think Daddy is a very big hockey fan and he absolutely is. However, with watching the same games and highlights over and over again I can’t help but think that perhaps he is a little slow too. You know what I mean – that is, the wheel is spinning but maybe the hamster died a long time ago. (You can see me reading a book and playing with Monty while Daddy is busy with his sports).

Anyway, while Daddy is preoccupied with his highlights, I have a little time to tell you about Groundhog Day which is today. With all due respect to the groundhogs around the world, there is only one true weather forecasting groundhog and his name is Punxsutawney Phil and he lives in Pennsylvania. On February 2nd of every year Punxsutawney Phil comes out of his burrow on Gobbler’s Knob to announce to the world what the weather is going to be like for the rest of the winter. If Phil sees his shadow, that means 6 more weeks of winter weather. If he does not, there will be an early spring. He conveys this message to the Groundhog Club President in Groundhogese, a language that is only understood by the current Groundhog Club President. Phil had been doing this for over 120 years which is pretty amazing because the average lifespan of a groundhog is about 9 years.

For those of you who have seen this ceremony either live or on television, you will know that Phil does not exactly come lumbering out of his burrow to carry on a conversation with the Groundhog President. It appears to me that he is yanked out against his will and is told what to say but perhaps I am a little overly skeptical.

Happy Groundhog Day to all and by the way, this morning Punxsutawney Phil announced that there will be 6 more weeks of winter.

The State of the Union

I'm ready for February. You can see I am sporting my heart pants and shirt in honor of Valentine's Day. I just know Daddy will take Mommy some place very special.

Here I am at the top of the stairs with Monty. I asked him if he wanted to race down them. I think I would fall. Mommy and Daddy keep saying, "NO!" each time I try to climb up or down them. Can't I have a little fun with this climbing thing?

I'm in my play room looking through my house. I love to ring the doorbell and turn on the porch light!

I had Mommy and Daddy record The State of the Union address by the President and I watched it this morning. I like the clapping and cheering. The people stand up and then they sit down. Then they stand up, then they sit down. It must be exhausting. I did not understand much of what that man was saying but I am not sure that a person who cannot pronounce the word "nuclear" should be in charge of so many missiles.

This week is the SuperBowl with the Giants of New York taking on the Patriots of New England. I am really torn about who to cheer for. The Giants beat my beloved Cowboys in the playoffs. I was so mad. The Cowboys beat the Giants twice this year in the regular season and Santa had just given me a T.O. jersey for Christmas. Then Nick Lachey's ex-wife goes and screws up my whole month. On the other hand the Patriots are perfect and Tom Brady is dreamy. His girlfriend is beautiful as well and she has never done anything bad to me - not like Nick Lachey's ex-wife anyway. So I guess it is settled. I will cheer for the Patriots - the pride of New England.

My visit with Drew: First Cousin Once Removed

Cousin Drew came to town. I had not seen him since I was 4 months old and obviously I have changed quite a bit since then. We went to Taco Mac to have lunch and as you can see from one of the pictures, he made me laugh. I think he thought it was the goofy face he was making but I was really laughing at his shirt. I don't believe in Blue Land myself.

I also met a couple of Drew's friends - they were very nice as well. Drew is going to the NHL All-Star game tonight. How exciting!!!

Come on Virginia, don't let me wait

I'm in Virginia with all my boyfriends in the first picture. It is me, Joshy, Cooper, and then Braeden. (Little Peyton is too small to pose for pictures. He was sitting with his mommy).
My friends at my birthday party: Cadence, Ella, Adia, and me! (My ladybug cake was awesome)!

Here I am in my new playroom looking out the window.

Last weekend I had my birthday party with my family and a few friends. Everyone who brought a present was permitted to eat as many sandwiches and pieces of cake as they wished. Mommy will post some pictures when she gets a chance. It was a nice day and I am glad everyone came. Thank you everyone.

Daddy and I were very upset last week because our beloved Cowboys lost to the Giants of New York. Now Daddy and I will turn our attention to hockey season – hopefully, that will go a little better.

Mommy and I flew to Richmond yesterday to visit some friends. I was very excited because I got a snack and drink on the plane. Daddy was very excited because they didn’t charge us for my ticket. It is supposed to be cold up there in the north so I packed some warm clothing. I am going to miss Daddy loads.

In case anyone forgot or didn't have the privilege of seeing me in Mommy's belly last year at this time I thought I would remind you with a few pictures.

WOW, I sure am glad to be out and exploring the world. I went to my one year old checkup today and I am healthy and looking good at 30 pounds. (30 pounds is much better than that wimpy 8.9 pounds when I was born).

Chubby "The Greek"

I watched a lot of football with Daddy this weekend and I would like to point out that I picked all 4 football games correctly. If you want to make big cash this weekend, dial 1 (800) Chubbys and get my exclusive picks for the coming week. When we were not watching football we were working hard on my play room. There is still a lot of work to be done but we did get a lot of painting done. As soon as we are finished Mommy will post some pictures.

Tomorrow is an important day but I forget why. Hmmmmmm

Happy New Year

My apologies for the long layoff between posts. I took some time off over the holidays and this week I have been under the weather. I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. Santa brought me lots of presents. I also received wonderful presents from Mommy, Daddy, and all of my relatives. Most everything I received lights up and makes noise with the exception of the Rubik's Cube I received from my Uncle Travis. While I don't like to brag about my acuity I have to admit that I can't solve the cube. It is too difficult. Daddy can't solve it either but he does know how to find the websites that show you how to cheat your way to victory.

Last weekend I went to my friend Luke's house for his first birthday party. I also saw my friend Lauren. We all had a good time together. Maybe Mommy will post some pictures soon.

On New Year's eve, we didn't do that much. I went to bed early and Mommy and Daddy watched a movie.

This weekend I am taking the Seahawks, Giants, Jaguars, and Chargers.
