What happens in Las Vegas....

My friends Ella and Adia at my house playing.

I have pig tails! (They didn't stay in very long).

I am sorry for the lack of posts lately. We have been very busy lately and had some visitors including Grammy, Uncle Tim, and Aunt Lorie. I have also had playdates with my playgroup and my friends Ella and Adia.

I have been getting better with my speaking and have been learning a word every few days. I can say “Monty” pretty clearly which is helpful when I want to boss him around.

Daddy has had a wonderful few days. First Mommy got him an Xbox (a really poor decision) for his birthday and then sent him to Las Vegas because one of his friends is getting married. What other place better exemplifies marital bliss and commitment more than Las Vegas. Daddy told me about all of the wonderful places he went to while he was there. He was, however, extremely disappointed that the Red Sox did not play better at home last weekend and the surprise knockout of boxer Miguel Cotto was not well-received by Daddy either.

It sounds like a wonderland out there - rooms of games that you can play; free glasses of apple juice or milk or whatever else you want to drink; lots of swimming pools, and plenty of places to eat and see stuff.

I wish I could have seen some pictures but Daddy didn’t bring any home. He said that cameras were not allowed there. I responded by telling him that I have seen tv shows where other people had cameras. Then he told me that he forgot to bring his camera to which I asked “doesn’t your phone have a camera?” Then he gave me 5 bucks and told me to go watch Sesame Street.

Today Mommy and I are helping Aunt Lori move to her new apartment.

Seeing Lots of People

Mommy, Great Grammy, Great Poppy and me!

Walking Snickers is my new favorite thing to do in NC.

Ice cream with Mommy, Daddy, and Grammy.

Last week Grammy came to visit me and we went to Asheville to visit Aunt Barb and Uncle Talmage and also Great Grammy and Great Grandpa. Aunt Barb has a little schnauzer named Snickers who I just loved. Actually, Snickers is the first dog I have ever walked on a leash. I can’t do that with Monty because I would be dragged for miles. Mommy has lots of pictures and I am sure she will post some soon.

When I came back from Asheville, we had more visitors, Uncle Tim and Aunt Lorie. I was a little unsure about Uncle Tim at first but he is my new best friend now. Yesterday we had a BBQ and played in the pool for hours. I slept very well last night.

In other news, I am becoming a little more assertive these days. I have learned to say the word “NO” and use it frequently and in the correct context. I have also begun to appreciate the word when it is directed at me…although sometimes I kind of ignore it and try to do whatever I want anyway.

My First Crush

Today I went to Aunt Chiann’s house for a little while. My friend Luke was asleep while I was there but I played with his older brother Donnie who is 5 years old. Since I am only 18 months old, that means that Donnie is a little more than 3 times older than me which is great because everyone knows that boys like younger girls. I confirmed this with Daddy and when Mommy left the room he agreed that when he is 60 years old, a 20 year old girl might be appealing.

Daddy’s little dream world notwithstanding, as you can see I am quite a catch for Donnie even though he doesn’t realize it yet and tries to play hard to get. He makes me giggle and when I see him I follow him everywhere. He tries to not pay too much attention to me but that makes me drawn to him even more. I even kissed him a few times today but he didn’t seem all that interested which made me want to kiss him more. Next time I see him, I am going to wear my prettiest dress and shoes and see if my beauty still doesn’t interest him. If my plans of seduction don’t work next time, I think I will just tackle him and inform him that he is supposed to like me. We weigh about the same so I think I could take him. Being a big girl has some advantages.

Independence Day

Yesterday was Independence Day, a day which commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence from the tea drinkers of Great Britain back in 1776. Many of our neighbors were celebrating the birth of our great country by destroying little pieces of it – thank goodness for the legalization of fireworks in our state a couple of years ago.

I haven’t been feeling well the last couple of days so we didn’t do anything spectacular for the 4th. In fact, I was asleep before the start of the big fireworks show our neighborhood puts on each year. I did, however, watch some television before bed. One of the channels was running the movie Independence Day all day long yesterday so I caught a little of that. There are not many redcoats in that movie but plenty of aliens. I don’t want to criticize the good folks running that channel but maybe The Patriot would have been a little more appropriate.

Gulf Shores Beach Vacation

Last week we went on vacation to Gulf Shores, Alabama with Mommy and Daddy, and also my friend Ella, Uncle Keith and Aunt Ashley. This was my first trip to the shore and I had a very nice time. Each day we spent a little time at the beach and a little time at the pool. I wasn’t all that enthused with the sand getting all over me and those waves are a little scary but I really liked the different swimming pools our condo had. Also, the pools were loaded with kids and I got to make a few new friends each day.

At night we went to dinner at several of the local restaurants. I ate a lot of shrimp as that seems to be one of the more popular foods in that area. You can prepare shrimp in a variety of ways – you can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, saute it. There is shrimp-kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There's pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich. I think that’s about it, right Bubba?
