I was a flower girl!

Last weekend I visited the grand state of Indiana for Charlie’s and Darlene’s wedding . For those not aware I was the Flower Girl on this wonderful day. Our trip got off to a rocky start as Ty spit out the Benadryl Mommy and Daddy tried to give him on the plane. The man next to me on the plane was very informative as he told me that Indiana was the racing capital of the world…why he thought I would be interested in that little tidbit is anybody’s guess. When we arrived in Indianapolis we went to the rehearsal at the church where I burst into tears at the thought of walking down the aisle myself.

At dinner that night I started to get psyched up about being the Flower Girl and I began to get my self esteem up….and Mommy’s bribe of buying me a toy if I performed well did not hurt either. The next morning I went to get my hair done with the other girls while Daddy, Greg, and Ty went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast. We met back at the hotel, got dressed, and then raced over to the church for pictures. We took lots of pictures while Daddy tried to keep Ty occupied. After 2 hours of waiting and playing, Ty was pretty spent and in no mood for a wedding so Daddy took him outside for a walk.

The moment of truth came for me as the music sounded and it was my time to perform. I was very scared and told Mommy that I did not want to go out there. Mommy, usually the soft-spoken caring voice of my two parents told me to “get it together” and instead of breaking down I actually did get it together. I walked down the aisle throwing my flowers everywhere and then stood at the altar with Charlie and Darlene. After they traded their vows we celebrated their marriage with a night of dancing at the reception. I really opened up at the reception and danced with all of the girls. Ty was a complete mess so Daddy had a few drinks and walked him around the parking lot.

When it was all over Ty and I slept very well and we then made our way back to Atlanta the next day. That flight was longer than the first one as Mommy and Daddy successfully drugged Ty this time but he fought it anyway. What a joy.

Congratulations Charlie and Darlene.
